Greetings from another later life Z3 owner.

Hi to you all out there. Well, I have finally realised an ambition that has been in my sights for a very long time and as they say " they do not put pockets in shrouds".
After several years of looking and walking away from some sadly neglected examples albeit loads of money spent on bling but not on what really matters - the running and servicing of the car;I found a rather nice 2000 (W) reg roadster in Topaz Blue Metallic with 63,000 miles and all verification of it being correct.

Hi to you all and thank you for your resounding welcomes. Yes, I really do believe that I was rather fortunate finding this particular Z3. The Chromed side grills really do set the car apart from one the standard colour coded ones.
I was also lucky to have dropped on-to a facelift model albeit not with all of the goodies and that much preferable Triptronic Auto box. The absence of Cruise Control is a bit of a pain especially on longer runs using the motorways.
The car is a 63,000 miles certified full history 2000 (W) reg 2.0ltr Auto and was first registered on 5th May 2000. I looked at several including before over over three years settling on this one.
I am based in West Lancashire and very close (6 miles) to both Southport and Ormskirk.
I have been away all day yesterday and a 515 miles round trip having a hardtop fitted as a Winter Protective Measure from the algae and general filth associated with our UK Winters. It was either hire a van or go in the roadster and return with it fitted. I elected to go in the roadster

Just a point of useless information but possibly a potential topic point,where did members ID's come from - My forum ID. I was born in September 1945 ans as such I am either a regular Virgo or a Chinese Rooster. As the ID A Virgo (Virgin) in a Roadster could potentially invite unwanted attention I settled for the Rooster.
I am active on several forums including cycling and caravanning related ones and the Rooster is common throughout.

If you have to have a late life crisis, a Z isn't a bad one to have!

My id comes from my surname. I was always called "Rev" at school.... No rocket science with me!

If I checked my Chinese Birth date I suspect I was born in the year of the "Nag", but my wife already has that user name!!

I'm not certain about the 2.0L engine but if it's a fly by wire throttle ( as opposed to a Bowden cable) retrofitting cruise control is a simple exercise that many members have done.
I would have fitted it to ours but took the alternative solution of buying a different Zed

"Titan" was derived from the colour (Titanium Silver) when I first joined an Internet forum. Like you I use it on several other user groups. Somehow being called "DeepSea" doesn't appeal!

Hi Titan. I don't think that buying a different Z is the answer and especially considering the length of time that I spent before finding this one.
I will quiz my local BMW dealer, based upon my Vin Plate Reference they should be able to give me the build specifics.
One of the things that I find a little annoying is the amount of pressure that is required on the accelerator pedal and the subsequent difficulty in keeping a steady speed on longer journeys and motorway driving.
Is there a different spring rating that can be used to lighten the required pressure or is the whole set-up a technical minefield?
