Are all Z3 hardtops the same will a 98 one fit a 2001 the 2001 car has roll hoops what parts do I need for fitting ? thanks

You need a fitting kit which will cost circa £300.

The guy said he will sell with fittings so what parts will I need to get with it of the other car ?

Mainly the 2 side mounting from just behind the seats. Best to search Z3 hard top and see. Maybe even look on YouTube for videos.

There are a couple of varients but they are dreadful , BMW got it right first time

BMW Z3 hardtop fitting kit should include:

• Mounting bracket LEFT with 3 fitting bolts - items 4, 5 & 6
• Mounting bracket RIGHT with 3 fitting bolts - items 4, 5 & 6
• Plastic mount cover LEFT with sliding cover cap with 1 hex fixing screw - items 25 & 35
• Plastic mount cover RIGHT with sliding cover cap with 1 hex fixing screw - items 25 & 35

Note - I haven’t shown part numbers for these as they are no longer available from BMW

• Wiring harness for hardtop - located on passenger side mount (UK) - item 4

Note - The hardness is connected to the mounting bracket and fits between 2 existing wire connectors that are located under the carpet trim next to the roof bracket joint behind the passenger seat.

• Rear screen demister switch for hardtop glass screen. If your car is prefacelift (1996 - 1999) it will be picture 1 or if it’s facelift (1999 - 2002) it will be picture 2
