I have had loads of help with sorting a blown fuse. See post on cigarette lighter not working but to put my mind at rest can some of you please give me an opinion on this.

The car has done 53k and would appear to have been locked after. Brand new MOT etc but today whilst fixing the fuse I had the power partly on at the ignition and I got a battery warning. Now when I start the car I sometimes get a yellow car on the ramp warning which gives me an exclamation mark on the screen once started. I can't find out what it is in the control messages but once the car is stopped and started it goes away.

Any ideas

You need to get a code reader on it John to see what is happening.

I note the Welsh flag as your avitar, if you don't have a code reader and are in South Wales you can drop by the Zedshed Cymru and I will plug you in and read the codes for you. Update your details with Location and what model you have, it helps when asking questions if we know what you have.

Some of my mates are in your neck of the woods this weekend on the
Wyedean Stages Rally
Excellent . We don't shoot Welsh lads here (though I'm sure its still legal here too =))), they're our neighbours after all, plus we like crossing the border to enjoy those Beacons roads, some of the best around :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Took the car to my local BMW expert (non dealer) Bolton Motor Works in Farnworth apparently its the battery. Its holding a charge but its not working as it should. The list of faults was quite lengthy but these are all related to the battery not being in good condition. It may even be the original which makes it 10 years old.
Interestingly when I first got the car and I was playing with setting a few things up I remember having the ignition on but the engine wasnt running and after just a moment or two the battery light flashed and things shut down so it all points in that direction. Once the new battery is in I will let you know if everything is clear so fingers crossed. Oh and it does need coding in so it will be delivered this morning to the garage in Farnworth and hopefully sorted by the end of today
