Hey folks! New member, great site. New owner of beautiful 1996 Z3 1.9, black with beige interior. I'll post picks soon. Nephew needed money, was planting on flipping it, but its so dang fun to drive I may just keep it.
Now for question.... I'd like to add roll bars, very confusing whether I can put them in mine when searching those sets for sale as to whether they can be added if they weren't OEM.
I see plastic plugs in the areas behind the seats, maybe that's where they go? Difficult to install? 2 individual, or the solid 2 in 1 that are SS, and so much cheaper than the pair of black singles.
Thanks for any help, I tried searching but couldn't find the answer as to whether I can or can't add them without modifications to the car.

Hi and welcome to the forum from South Wales. It's always possible to add roll hoops, if you post a pic of the type of plastics you have then it would be easier to tell. Won't be too long before someone who knows more than myself to answer your question.

Welcome on the forum.
There are no mounting points next to the turrets on a 96 to be able to fit the individual roll hoops.
The 2 in 1 are only cosmetic but you can fit them but they will not help if you plan on putting the car upside down.

That's good to know, thanks! After 13 motorcycles, 9 of them crotch rockets, I'm just a cruising kind of guy now. Was really wanting to add a windscreen. They make them that fit the seats, but don't look that good. I at least hope they have super strong pillars though, never know when a deer will jump out in front of me when I'm going at a good clip around a corner (or the occasional idiot passing on a corner). I live on an old highway that winds through the mountains following the Payette river... awesome driving in a convertible. ;-)

Appreciate all the friendly welcomes! Trying to upload some pictures, dealing with new windows tablet (been IOS guy for too long) so hope it works. Went on nice evening ride up the Payette River scenic route, wow, roadster convertible is the only way to go!
