Hello everyone,

Im looking into purchasing a Z3 and have been reading your articles which have been brilliant! I plan to learn how to do all my modifications myself and give it a real personal feel starting from the front all the way to the back.

A friend of mine who is a mechanic is going to show me how to clean the engine out properly etc. Really interested in i but since I'm finishing 24/7 education in the next 2 months I'm just preparing!

I have two months over summer that i plan to work on my yet to buy z3, any tips for purchasing, what to look out for etc. are all very welcome.

Thanks guys

Andrew

Hi Andrew, this was raised only last night if you look back there several answers but if you let us know where abouts you are, someone is local enough to show you their car and discuss what you need to look out for. Welcome to a very friendly forum with boundless info and help only a click away.:)

Tony.

ps. I'm near Lincoln.

I would imagine that when you are back down Watford way someone will be very local and be able to help you out Andrew, 1 tip, don't be in too big a hurry to buy a car as the right one will come along soon enough. Good luck.:)

Welcome Andrew,

Glad to hear we've been of use already! Shout the questions out as you have them and we'll be glad to answer.

Best tip is to drive as many as you can to get a feel for them.

Cheers, Gary

Hi Andrew and welcome to the forum,
Good advice to take your time, but with the Z Roadster as the weather improves prices rise.

Welcome Andrew!
It's a wise decision you took and it's nice to see the young generation discover the true values!
Good luck with both: education and Zed! BTW both are important and match together very well!:)

Hi from me too. Can't assist in showing you mine as I'm in Mansfield but as everyone has said, look at a few, get an idea of values as they will start rising now for summer. Assuming you still being at school :D you'll be after a 1.9? Just check for the head gasket as I've heard a few horror stories. It's not the end of the world but isn't a cheap repair if you can't do it yourself. Good luck with the hunt and look forward to seeing pics once you've sorted one out. :welcome:

  1. @Davejue1 "still being at school :D you'll be after a 1.9?" :shifty: The 1.9 is still having 140 HP...;)
