asi am now officially a Z3 owner.

- its a 1.9L dark green, 1998 (R),

its done 122k, a few small niggly issues, the airbag light is on, the guy i bought it off said the previous owner dissabled the passenger airbag as they used a child seat - not sure on that but i will check,

the passenger seat is stuck as far forward as it can go, the electrics are shot - its either motor or a cog somewhere

the Radio doesnt work - but i had planned putting a new one in anyway

and the alarm fobs need syncing which again is not a big job.

other than that its fine, it drives straight, it pulls ok, body work is good.

and an oil leak

Welcome to Zorg Monkey :(|)

Well done on pictures with your first post! Lovely looking car, glad you have the energy to get her in tip top condition. You should get all the help you need here.

Airbag light sounds like the previous owner has disconnected it perhaps? I have various spare seat motors/parts if you get need them - just shout.

Couple of interesting things to look at first... Zed Fest - 500 Zeds at Silverstone in July - http://zroadster.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=324

Welcome Craig glad you could make it, it looks like you have got your hands full getting your zed sorted but all you need to do is ask there are plenty of people on here willing to help.

With regard to your seats I am sure when you do the bushes you should be able to sort out the stuck seat, the switch is actually quite a common failure so check that out but it is not unknown for the mechanism to jam. It can sometimes be free by connecting a battery straight to the motors but take caution not to short anything out.

The alarm system can be resynced by pressing both buttons on the remote in a certain sequence, the exact instructions are available on the links page through the main home page which has many useful links to stuff but here is a direct link to get you started.

Hope you manage to get all the problems sorted in time for the roof down season and just remember you only need to ask if you get stuck.

Hope someone has explained the cardinal rule of zed ownership........
............ Absolutely no driving it, unless it is pouring down, with the roof up

Wishing you many miles of Top Down

Wow, what a welcome,

i had better introduce myself a bit more LOL i bought the car on Sunday just gone

99% of the issues are not big or outside my realm tool weilding.

Electrics are my main point, i used to work for a Autoelectrical company and learnt alot,

the seat motors seems fine, i can feel and hear the motors fors it seems they are jammed. as aceman has said i've ordered a set of buses as the seask have toe "rock" issue, and i'll strip them down to see what is actually wrong.

the airbag waring light i am not sure, it could be dissconeccted but i'm putting my money on the seat pressure sensor

i also have a H/U with bluetooth hands free to fit as the factory fit is borked

the alarm fobs - one works sort of, the battery connections have been broke and need fixing the other needs resyncing - i have found all the how-tos for that already

the oil leak is my main concern at the moment though

i like playing with car electrics and doing different things that may or may not been done, sand making things work they way i want them to.

i'll look into Silverstone in July, sounds like a great day out.

this isnt my first soft top, i've had a MX5, which i consider a Z3 training car LOL. and trust me, i never drive with the roof up unless it is raining. whats the point? its a convertible. and if anyone sees me driving in the dry, regardless of temperature and can prove its me, i'll give you £100. my G/F hates it when we go out in a soft top.

when i had the MX5, it was snowing before Xmas (IIRC Xmas Eve), i had my mate in the car and we drove into town to do some last minute shopping, Roof Down, santa hats on playing Xmas songs as loud as the stereo would go.

Well it sounds like you've come home, you're in good company on here for top down driving enthusiasts. There are quite a few meets coming up all over, try and get to any you can so you can put faces to names. We're all a friendly bunch and we love the occasional bit of banter... all in good fun.. :coolsteer)

Hi Greg, on my 2000 year car the indicators flash once when setting the alarm only. They do not flash when un setting it. There should be a red led in the centre console which tells you when the alarm is set. You can leave the top and windows down and set the alarm then open the doors?
