I believe it is OEM. It has some M-like features in the build sheet - the front bumper/skirt; strut tower brace; M-sport suspension; Sport Leather steering wheel; M logo on shifter. Maybe it's just a Japanese spec?

That's a reasonable assumption . . . although there is no doubt that it originated in Japan - they have distinct VINs. All of the '97 JDM Z3s that I've seen have been LHD . . . but I'm new to this group - maybe there are some here?
