thinking go buying a Z3 3.0. I'm a bit hesitant as it's got 165,000 miles on clock. Owner says it drives really well. Looks in good condition. I've asked for last adviserys on last m.o.t. It's a great looking car. Not many around. Has any body got any advice for me. Thanks. Steve.

Welcome from West Cumbria. Engines are pretty solid really and will do starship mileage if well maintained.

All depends if its value for money. I would say the price should be around the 3k mark for that mileage

Hi Steve,

The Z3 is capable of high mileage if kept maintained. The 6 cylinder engines are pretty much bullet proof if maintained correctly. The issues to look for at that mileage are rubber suspension components and anything rubber like radiator and induction hoses on the engine.

They are a perfect car for the average home mechanic, and pretty easy to work on. If you have access to a code reader it's worth taking along to a viewing to see if anything is picked up. It's mostly sensors that fail, and they are usually easy to switch over.

Any specific questions just ask.

Gary

Good advice Gaz

Hello Steve and welcome from Truro. High mileage wouldn't put me off as long as the price is right and the general condition is ok.

Ditto all the comments re mileage. If there is a good service history and the bodywork is good 165K wouldn't put me off.

Tony.

Hi Steve, :welcome: to the forum from me too in Staffordshire. If the car is in good condition and everything works, high mileage wouldn't put me off. In fact our Z3 had 130,000 on when we got it.
