Sorry, can't help with the history but pop a "hello" in the Introduce Yourself" section so others can welcome you. That aside,
:welcome: to the forum from West Cumbria. Got any pics? :D

Hello
I"M Mark from the Netherlands.

a few months a go I found my z1 the car has 39000 km and needs some tlc it's standing for about 10 years.

when we repair the car we see the car has still his first airfilter 89
first petrolfilter 89 and the oilfilter was 92.
and the car had a broken fuelpump after replace the car runs great.
I take of all the body parts and replace the frontbumper repair the front wings and now it will be respray in the Original color.
the Original wheels are also done new michelin 225 45 16 rims.
the leather of the seats are replaced because they were to dry now its black dakota leather (only the button seat)

Hi @markz1 That's an excellent choice you've made. I'd love to see some pictures.

As for history, if you contact your local BMW dealer they can provide you with all the warranty work (if any) done on the vehicle and where that work was carried out. They should be able to print this off for you.

You can then contact the centres where your car was worked on and ask if they have records of the previous owners.

I'm afraid they don't, because in the early '90s there were no computers!:D
@Faheem , you have to agree that before your era, the data were kept in books.;)
I know is hard for the young generation, but this is the way it goes...:)

@Zeti you may be right. I didn't think of that... out of curiosity do you know when bmw would have started to keep computerised records?

For mine (a '96 Z3) they have computerized records only for predelivery data, that I believe input afterwards. A real time data records was started between 1997- 2000, when the pc and Internet became very popular. But still , maintenance outside BMW network was not recorded on the car's file.

Thanks, Eindhoven is a beautiful place to live. I stayed with friends in Bruunsum several times through the eighties and my wife and I had planned to move to the Netherlands once we retired we loved the people and country so much. But as happens life jumped in the way leading to us raising a 12yr old granddaughter as her legal guardians. I do hope to make it back one day though even for a short time just for the foods!! Take care, JIM
