Looking to get mine done with a change of colour.

Has anyone used this company http://www.thesofttopshop.com/id72.html based at Stockport.

Any feedback generally on having the hood replaced, positives or negatives would be good.

Many thanks

Tim.

Hi Tim,

I am considering doing mine as well due to finding some small breaks in the rear screen and a few worn patches on the roof. @badman gee went with http://www.car-hood.co.uk/ I think and so waiting to see if there is a fitter local to me. Might be worth an ask how much for two hoods ;)

I went to the guy in Swansea that does all the guys for the Mazda MX5's and he also does Z3's, I was after a new screen but his price for a complete new hood and sewn in screen was so good I did that and changed from black to blue and am really pleased with the job. It cost me to travel to Swansea and back which for me was about 300 miles and I paid £280 by memory. I took loads of pictures and plan to do an article but have not had time.

He has months of work so you have to book and he makes the soft top before you arrive. Then whe. You get there on the day he the strips the old hood off ( and if you watch you are surprised how bad the old one was) and he then fits the new one while you wait.

If your interested I will dig out his contact details. There is no messing around he does it his way or you find another guy to do it but I am really happy with the result.

These are the best, get a sample and compare with other suppliers/installer. By far superior

So I take it you messed around.....;)
Lol I did not express that well did I. He does what he does and if you want anything different or ask a load of questions he gets a little blasé about the business and even says if your bothered go elsewhere, for me I am glad I just let him get on with it.

Thanks for the replies, Mark have sent you a PM I hope lol.
Brian my current hood is in pretty good nick there is just some very minor fraying where it came away from the rear screen in one corner when I bought the Zed which I glued back, the screen has been polished to nothing lol I was thinking of a hardtop but fancy changing the hood to Burgundy which I think would look stunning and replace the screen at the same time as its just getting old now. The company I've posted look to be pretty good and they come to the customer which I prefer as more convienient.
Tim.

Hi tim i went to the car hood wherhouse they did a cracking job. They were not cheep but great finish.one thing i would say is go for the vent side pockets as they have two benifits.they help vent the cabin area and more important let the hood fold down correctly.hope this helps.

Thanks Mick, do you have a link please to the car hood warehouse.

Talking of the side pockets mine has these being the facelift however BAS Internation seem to think otherwise?

Thanks Ray, are these pockets located on each side of the hood where the seam goes over the top as I have these where I can slide my hand in. Is your Zed pre 04/99? as you may have the facelifted hood if post 04/99.

Thanks,

Tim.

I would agree on this score the vents which mine also has are important. Funny thing though I am sure Hazels which is a 2000 year model also has the vents and hers has a liner as well.
