Today's job entailed me swapping the 2 Salmon coloured relays which, in part, control the operation of the folding roof. I recently discovered that these can expire without warning, creating a big headache. So I ordered a pair from Mark at Sopers and collected them yesterday afternoon as I had no knowledge of these having been replaced previously. Just over £30 the pair with forum discount. I found Mark at a desk at in the showroom marked "Temporary Parts Counter"
The Eagle eyed amongst you might spot something wrong with one of them.
After lunch today I set about changing them. All you need are, a 10mm socket or spanner to remove the Negative battery lead terminal and a T25 torx bit to remove the screw holding the relay mounting bracket.
Next remove the sound suppression cover from the pump.
Then you can see the 2 relays and the screw which holds them in place.
Having removed the screw and lifted the relays up I used the Sharpie to mark these as the "old" relays so I wouldn't put them back by mistake. After changing the relays, refit the bracket and screw.
By the way, when I remove a battery lead I wrap the terminal in a cloth and stuff it back next to the battery to keep it from accidentally contacting the Negative post.
Then replace the sound covering over the pump,
and my extending wheel brace.
After reconnecting the battery lead put the floor panel back.
Job done.
Tony.
