Hi Billy and welcome :welcome:,

Some piccies will help identify exactly what your car is. It sounds like a 2.8 with some extras on it, and the M badges on the steering wheel and gear knob always confuse. If you had an M it would be a 3.2 litre engine with quad exhaust!

Cheers, Gary :D

Yes the steering wheel and gear knob were common upgrade for buyers to tick on the option list which unfortunatly leads some people into the mis conception that they have bought a ///M especially guys in the states for some reason

Would be great to see some pics and don't be embarressed most people buy there zed not only for the joy of driving them but like to tinker and personalise them.

Welcome aboard and look forward to hearing more about your new ride.

Another welcome from me as well. Z3's should be used so don't hide it away lovely driving on a frost sunny day with the roof down (as long as you warm the rear screen 1st), don't turn bad on us already.

Piccies before and after are always best shows you made it all worthwhile.

Great to hear that you made the leap and jumped in with both feet. I'm partial to your car since I have a green '96 z3. It also needs work but I have no garage so I'll probably drive it right through the winter unless there's snow or ice on the road. Have to sell my old car before I can insure this one and drive it so I'm really restless about doing this. Don't see how you'll be able to remain calm knowing that car is calling you from the garage to be taken out for a walk. Good luck with your patience and your car. Frankie

welcome great car choice.regarding winter driving prep.I take mine up to the local wind turbine site and practice dirfting round corners ,sometimes you can overdo it and do a 360 but on the gravel it prepares you for wet icy roads.

I drove my Silver 1.8 Z3 through two winters, one of which was extremely snowy & icy and it never put a wheel wrong, in fact what ruined it in the end, was not driving in the winter, but driving it on the continent in extreme heat at high speed. During the winter it was a lovely car to drive and I always felt very safe even in drifting snow.

Ever since I started driving front wheel drive cars, I lost some confidence in rear wheel vehicles. Perhaps this z will re--install some trust in rear wheel drive.
