Had the Z in the workshop today for a couple of jobs and decided that it needs some paint correction, I have abused it over the last year and a couple of area's had sunk back so thought I would test the water and give it a flat and polish, there was some sinkage on a area of the boot lid so hit that first.
Flatted with 2500

Then DA sanded with 3000, this is so fine its almost a pre-polish and makes the final job a lot easier,

This is after the DA has done its job, you can see the reflection of the light now

All it needs now is 5 mins with the polisher, I did the whole boot lid in an hour including fine mopping with Carnuba wax, unfortunately my phone died so final photo's to follow.

What does 'sunk back' mean?
Where I repaired some area's that had been previously painted the paint had shrunk back very slightly so you could see fine lines in the surface of the paint, you can't see them outside, they only become apparent under strip lights if you look hard enough.

So do you have to go right through the clear coat to sort that?
This paint business is complicated!
