I couldn’t find myself driving it. Every time I sat in it I cried. Consequently the worst thing I did was let it sit for three years. I finally got in to get her going and had some minor things happen. The first was the ignition solenoid went out and had to be replaced. I also had noticed that the lights were coming on in the middle of the night for no reason other than I thought Christie was attempting to get my attention. It turned out that some sort of short has happened, which I haven’t been able to find. My BMW mechanic didn’t have a whole lot of time to look, but suggested that I start with the light switch. He couldn’t find any wires that had been chewed so he’s thinking condensation may be the culprit. I’ll take any suggestions. However I’m trying to find the light switch to know success. The only other mechanical thing that I’m running into is the electric window on the driver side you have to keep hitting the button to get it to go up or down. It just goes just a tiny bit at a time. I’ll take suggestions on that also looking forward to talking to other BMW owners by the way I recently saw a 2018 i8 on 99 in Sacramento and decided that that might just be my car that I get for fun. Being disabled I’ll have to check if it’s any easier to get in or out of than the Z3.

I’m so sorry for your loss, @Dontknownothin You’re in the right place for help, though. No doubt someone will be along shortly to let you know some ideas as to how to fix the problems. The light switch to what: the headlights? Or the interior lights?

Yes, it’s the light switch to the headlights. Currently, my mechanic showed me how to removed the relay by the fuse box to keep the battery from going dead. If I need to drive it at night, I just pop it in and then take it out again. Unfortunately, my name is not related to the Rockefellers so I’m trying to do things on my own before. I have to start turning it over to the professionals. Eventually, I’m going to end up selling it so I don’t wanna put a ton of money into it.

I suggest you post your request for help in General Banter as it’s probably not reaching as wide an audience here. I can’t suggest what the problem might be but someone rise probably can over in the other section. The headlights are turned on and off by the shiny silver circular pull knob found to the right of the steering wheel. It could be an electrical error but I don’t know so post a request for help in the General Banter section.
