Is a Z3 meant to use a locking plate on the inner tie rod?

The one time I’ve done this job before I know I used them. But they are greyed out on realoem. And I want to reassemble the car today and don’t have any!

I removed a pair of BMW inner tie rods from the car and they look original. There were no locking plates.

I can only see the part on realoem for an E36 Compact and a variation for the Z3M.

What’s the official line? Should I be using it anyway?

I think I used the flatter E36 part last time.
