Well @Brian H hinted that I do an write up on this latest mod.

Well you may know that I have a 2 ltr turbo - and with some recent events I have noticed the car suffering from heat soak, this reduces the car performance.

I could not justify the cost of larger inter-cooler as you talking best part of £1,000 and I would be an gunie pig - as not many people have done such work to an N20 in an E89.

So when I was at the rolling road, I was disusing with the engineers - and said that the WRX guys user water spray and spray onto the inter-cooler to reduce heat soak.

So I started the venture of of implementing an independent water spray kit.

Cage for water

Water Jets

Water Tanks

Primary Switch in glove box

Operator Switch

Well weather need to improve but I post testing

The plan is to use meth or screen wash with atlest 30% ethanol as this has a lower evaporation level than water - so it is able to disburse heat better than water on its own.

I did think of two alternative solutions one was an co2 spray for the inter cooler. And the other was meth injection which similar to this water injection were you inject water or meth in the charge pipe.

But I do not want to push the boost levels beyond the limitations of the n20 engine.

Reaction, reaction, reaction. Timing and anticipating the lights and a good 0-60' speed should get you where you want to be and may even beat your goal!! Good luck, I'll be riding along with you all the way! JIM

I think that the solution as outlined in the articles could help to alieviate the stress on the N20 engine, in any case I'm not advocating a massive increase in the boost pressure. However I do think you could take the power output to 350 BHP level quite safely without making the engine more unreliable. After all BMW will be offering this option on some of the 35is engined cars in the near future.

Dependant upon how many lbs of boost you're running now I'd think that your N20 will hold together nicely unless you go completely crazy with boost! JIM
