Hi - my Z3 has had some leaky roof issues in its prior life and as a result some of the interior is peeling where the roof meets the windscreen. Anyone had this and come up with a good fix? It is just a sand and black paint job?
(The grotty roof itself is being replaced this week!)

My Z3 suffered a bit of that. I did what you suggest, and sprayed it Satin Black ( several coats).

You can lightly sand and then use plasti-dip. Its a sort of liquid plastic and has good adhesion. Smells like a rotten fish for some days, but lasts forever and you can peel it off easily if needed. Needs multiple light coats and some 15 to 20 minutes between them on a warm day.
i did a full respray on a dashboard and was extremely happy, until I realised that the stench needs up to three days to go away. After that, no issues at all.
before doing this I checked this video

and decided to go the plastidip route.

Or you could remove it and have it powdered coated. If you decide to spray paint it the aluminium will need a etch coat first.
Do you know if this part is easy to remove? I tried to remove it last summer and it looked as it is glued to the roof cloth so I didn't want to proceed without further knowledge.

Didn't want to mess around so I would appreciate if you have details on how easy or difficult this repair is!

If your having a new roof I would remove it a few days before to tackle it or you could ask where your having it done if they could do it for you.

The job is a bit of thaff but I hope this link https://www.roadstersolutions.com/media/PDF/GAHH Install Instructions Z3 96-02.pdf

Will give you some insight. If you don’t fancy going that far at least mask up well and your copit to avoid all the sanding dust and over spray.
