Just over a month ago I happily purchased a 2001 2.2 Z3, overall been happy as a little kid in a sweetie shop with it. Until tonight when the light switch stuck on park. I've had to disconnect the battery as the switch will not go all the way in. If anyone has any ideas on how to do sort this I will be mightily thankful to you.

Here's a photo of the wee beastie being a bit risqué going topless.

Morning Jamie welcome to the nut house!

Those switch mechanisms are easy to change. 8mm socket and a flat blade screw driver if my memory serves me well. the nut to remove is under the switch cap.

Welcome Jamie, thanks for dropping by!

Your Zed looks in great condition. As Lee says, as small flat blade to remove the cap on the end of the light pull, then you can see what's holding the switch in place.

Cheers, Gary

Awesome thanks. I waited for daylight so that I didn't mess around more than I already had and turns out there was a small screw at the base of the plug stopping it going all the way in. I think it's best not to think about where that screw came from and just move on.

Your quote:'I think it's best not to think about where that screw came from and just move on."

It came from the screw fairy. Glad you were able to sort things out and welcome to the forum from the other side of the pond. Frankie
P.S. Yeah, I know that the screw being there would bug me too. You'll probably notice something loose in time. The other thing that would bug me is : will it be a 5 hour operation to get it back in place once you know were it goes? Good Luck with it. Again....Frankie

@Jamie C , or worse something falls off and shorts out your wire harness. If you check posts going back a bit a member did in fact short out his headlight switch. I'd be finding out where that screw belongs PDQ! JMO JIM
