Hi all,

I have had a Casio compact for many years, it has been dropped on the floor, stepped on, dropped in beer etc etc but I finaly managed to kill it on a recent sailing trip. It took incredible pictures for such an old compact so I'm looking for a good replacement. I rode my luck with the Casio, banging it about for 8 years so probably need to get a tough camera this time round. I have 200-250 quid to spend so had a look on amazon and found this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pentax-Opti...2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1328033283&sr=1-2

It seems to tick all the boxes and has the bonus of being waterproof. I would be using it for a mixture of things so need something that can take good landscape pics and have a good macro function. Does any one have any experience of it or know of a better camera in my price range?

Thanks,
Pete

I thought I would take a look at your choice. just lurking as they say. but then spotted it was a pentax and got a little more interested as I has pentax film camera for years and loved it and miss it's user interface. now have a sigma camera DSLR and expensive lenses (and do not get on with it) and a Nikon compact (do not like the menu's) anyway liked the look of your choice and looked at a review or two here is a link to one which sort of reflected the others.

Can't afford to change mine but I do like your choice.

by the way not a specialist nor knowledgeable about cameras in any way just partaking in your interest so please do not think I have any valid knowledgable validity. :beer
