Called to look at a Z4 on my journey today - it looks too good to be true.

It's a 3.0i SE Auto in black with red leather with 91.5k miles and FSH. It looks a steal at £5475 despite the mileage. Would prefer cream leather and an IS but I suspect I'd end up paying another 3-4k for something similar.

Just three things to think/worry about against my wish list.
1. It has Satnav but no bluetooth prep - easily solved with a parrot no doubt?

2. The bodywork looks in immaculate condition, but, as it was raining its difficult to tell. I could see only one minor dent. The air dam, while scratched underneath looked in good condition otherwise.
The seat, while electronic and heated are not sports seats. Can these be changed easily of I came across a good set on eBay?

3. I only had chance for a short drive and that was in the wet so it wasn't a fair test, but, I forgot to test the Sport button in the brief time I did drive it. The worst thing I could find was the collar on the sport button was broken and came away - again I presume this is easily fixed? I can;t image its anything worrying over.

The roof worked fine, opened and closed quickly with no hesitation. It looks like is been garaged - not green slime on edges of the hood.
It was only Xenon - The main beam would need extra brilliance bulbs putting in - How easy is it to replace bulbs?

Anybody got any thoughts - advice on what else to look for before I go back on my way home on Friday?

Headlight bulbs not easy to change, sport mode is very good, especially with the steptronic. Mine has these type of seats and are very comfortable.

Tony.

Wasn't going to. I told the sales guy I would buy unless I'd seen the car in the dry. It was polished up wonderfully but that could hide a multitude of sins.

I couldn't see how you could easily change a bulb or take the whole unit out to do so hence the question. More than a couple of bolts I'm guessing then.
The seats don't bother me too much. I'd probably stick with them anyway but am guessing it's just a few bolts an unplug the electrics to change them, Thanks.

Got p*** wet through all bloody day. Been rank!
Been bloody great over here, don't know what you're moaning about, nearly been too hot !!:D

Tony.

ps. @Redline, you access the front light bulbs through small removable panels in the front of the wheel arch liner, behind each light unit, a bit fiddly especially if you can't lift the car and turn into lock. I remember @billz having to change one a few weeks ago.

Agreed Tony, I ended up taking the wheel off to give better access:(

A Z3......?.......:D
I love the shape of the Z3 but, the z4 gives the feeling of a larger sturdier car. Oddly I think it is slightly smaller than the Z3 and weighs a little less too. Appearances can be deceptive. There are far more 3.0s around too. Yes I know the smaller engined cars are better handling at the limit, but I want to own a 3L 6 pot gain.

On paper there is not much difference in the sizes but when we had our 3 and 4 sat next to each other on the drive the 4 looked much bigger than the 3. I think it is the huge expanse of bonnet...

BTW, great wheels on the one you're looking at. Just what I wanted on ours...

I agree, and when I found one with sixteen and a half thousand miles at 12 years old I just couldn't turn it down. All who had a look at it on the 13 th agreed it was too good to miss, even if it wasn't a 3.:):)

Used to have to take the battery out to do the lights in the x-type. The other side you stripped your knuckles on the ABS unit, if you had small hands. Otherwise you didn't do it yourself. In the Landy FL - two bolts and the whole unit comes out. 3 minutes tops to change a bulb. Who designs these things?

The wheels while not 100% were in quite good condition as well as the good looking elipsoids. Near side front kerbed but you have to expect that at this mileage.
