Hello,
I’m an expat now living in SW France. I’d been searching in the UK looking for Z3 to import to France because prices here are crazy high; but Brexit made that option unviable, with VAT and import taxes set now at around 50% of the car value, coupled with the hassle of registering the car and meeting the homologation requirements here. But I was lucky enough to find a rhd 2000, 3.0i, (M54) for sale in Calais; lucky because the sale value for a rhd is considerably less. The car is in superb condition and has clearly been very well cared for. I can do most of the maintenance myself, but will get the local mechanic to give the drivetrain a look-see for wear and tear. He’s one of those old style mechanics who can turn his hand to any task; and fortunately has a Z4 so knows his way around Z’s! - and considerably cheaper than a dealership The car is a dream to drive and a true classic; one of the last models with analogue dials (I think) with a hands-on tactile rear wheel drive experience – Brilliant.
The roads down here are a dream; hardly any traffic and fantastic well maintained surfaces. I drive to the UK every year to catch up with mates and the travel difference now is extreme. Before moving here back in 2012 we lived in rural SW Wales (Carmarthenshire) and the countryside there is much the same as hereabouts, but a tad cooler and less clement!
