Greetings to you all.
I am a retired old git who joined this site when researching soft top replacement for my old 3.0l Z3. I am now in information overload and just want the new hood to arrive so I can get on with it. The only item I haven't sourced is a swear jar, from what I've read it will need to be a big one!

Welcome Stumpy!

Sounds like you enjoy a challenge, but everyone one here will be on hand to follow your progress and chip in with helpful comments! Not sure where you are, but you may find some local owner willing to come over and mop your brow as you work...

Cheers, Gary

Hi Stumpy and welcome to the forum from the other side of the pond. I swear on here regularly. You just have to figgure out what the words are from the ones I actually type. Are you going to do the roof yourself? You can do it. There are vids on u-tube on how to do it. I posted some on here myself. Its not a difficult job, just tedious. You MUST MAKE SURE YOUR NEW TOP HAS PLASTIC FLANGES SEWN INTO IT THAT FIT THE CURGES OF THE TWO WINDOWS. If not, send it back right away and get one that does. You'll need a rivit gun, stapler and some good butyl calk, and alot of patience. Back to the gaming tables. Frankie at Caesars,AC.

Thanks for the heads-up Frankie. I hope the new top is fit for purpose at £500+. I'll let you know how I get on.
Gaming tables at 7.00 in the morning, you must be bloody keen.
Cheers Stumpy...................

Hello Stumpy, there's a guy in South Wales, think it's Swansea area, that will supply and fit a new hood for less than £500. Someone posted a link in the forum to him. Aparently he does a lot of new hoods for the MX5 club.
If you've already bought yours it will be too late but it's worth remembering for the future.
I think the guy just re covers your exixting frame as long as it is in ok condition.

May be someone can confirm I haven't dreamed this, lol being the old fart that I am

Sounds like you ARE doing it yourself. For the price you are paying for the top, it should have the wings sewn in and a set of cables. These go into channels sewn in along the top. There are tabs on some models that you have to un-crimp to get the old cables out. If you have this setup, this will be the most difficult part of the whole job.
Also, I work the 4 to noon shift. Been dealing a high limit game most of the morning, 2 to 3 players playing up to 3 or 4k a pop. No time to be sleepy!!! Frankie

J.R. Thanks for your input. I deliberately went for a more expensive option from prestigeautotrim.
I was keen to have it fitted by them too, but they are just to far away.
Cheers Stumpy.
