LED bulbs should fail the MOT. Best option are Osram Night breaker replacements.
I used them in my Z3 and my E85 Z4 which have very poor headlights as standard.

Hi @Gregor i am an active mot tester and can confirm what Tony is saying is correct Led dip bulbs in your age of vehicle would be a mot fail ( main reason is most of these bulbs produce a poor beam image and poor light projection.
As Tony has also recommended Osram nightbreaker range are good quality products and will improve the lighting on your zed over stock bulbs or most of the Phillips vision range would also be a suitable option.

Dont be tempted to fit higher wattage output bulbs as especially if you have a face-lift zed you will damage the headlight internals with the extra heat produced.

Sorry for additional reply but I have been looking at the OSRAM Night Breaker and wanted to know if these are for European Z3 models as it appears the connection not with the L connector or do these just slide into the L connector. If this is the case the vehicle Finder did not work so are you suggesting the Night Breaker 200 and ECE Category H11? FYI, I am in the USA and not sure I can purchase this item. Thanks Tony

Hi Gregg, it's been about 8 years since I had my Z3 so I'm struggling to recall exactly what the bulbs looked like. However I do have a headlight unit for a Z3 in my shed so I will take a look tomorrow for you.

Tony.

pa. Sorry, I didn't realise you were in the USA.

Tony, Thanks again for getting back to me. I think I will see what the local Auto Parts stores have to say. I was not sure with this forum if I would have someone in the USA respond. Take care
