Pretty confused with the prices I see in UK ads and what we have for sale here in Greece.
I understand that rust and steering wheel on the right side maybe lower the demand for UK roadsters, but over here the prices are insane.
and on top of that, we have people from Germany and Netherlands coming with trucks, buying tons of Z3s and exporting them to their countries.
just 40 left for sale in Greece and they are either the worst or the best examples.
whoever had a Z during the last 5 years and sold it, sold it for almost double from what he paid for.
i am quite curious to hear your thoughts about these ads compared to the UK stock…

I will let those on this forum that have been here far longer or with more knowledge on pricing elaborate however it does appear (and I cannot explain why because I love the look of them) that unfortunately at the moment the Z3 especially in the larger 6 cylinder models don't appear to be as sought after here in the uk and seen to be as much a classic as in other countries..The market here is currently very flat. Many cars have been advertised and for sale for literally months and months..How do I know this because I've been looking to by a decent Z3 3.0 for the last 6 months. The last one I know that ACTUALLY SOLD was a runner with high mileage and MOT but a bit rough and went for around £3.5k . The sort of one I actually want to purchase there are a couple for sale on Autotrader & EBay but the owners I now realise are happy to have them for sale for probably years and are not really bothered about selling. They seem to want between £9K and £12K for decent looking low mileage examples, however my gut feel tells me that if I bought them and wanted a quick sale the following month i'd be lucky to receive back £7K hence my reluctance to purchase. I understand in the USA the larger engined models have rocketed in value.. I expect if we here in the UK hang on long enough it will happen here eventually!

It would seem that in general those prices are significantly higher than the UK average; and they have the steering wheel on the wrong side!!!!!!

I think people in the UK are realising that the cost per mile for something like a £5k Z3 that probably needs a bit of work is quite high. If you’ve had to pay cash, you might be thinking it’s a better idea to use that as a deposit and finance something newer. I also think that the more Z3’s are kept outside in the UK by people on a budget, the more will be ruined by water ingress and rust, so the cheap ones are less likely to be saved, whereas a cheap one from Greece might be a better prospect. There’s also the issue of low emissions zone charges that will lead some people to have to offload their 2.8’s if they want to avoid paying £12.50 a day in Greater London and less in other cities.

I think there was some statistics a few years ago that showed that uk buys more convertible cars than most other countries. Which is strange considering our weather.

So. With that in mind. We simply have so many that for 'normal' zeds the prices are pretty flat.

Then there's the other end of the market where the owners are in negative equity and have no chance of selling for what the car owes them.

And probably a few who don't want to sell but the missus says it has to go so he's put a stupid price on it. "I am trying to sell it luv but . . .. I'm just nipping down the shop for a pint of milk."

There is absolutely no way I can ride more than 5 minutes top down under the sun from May until September. 38 to 42 celsius and direct sunlight will melt everything in the car including the bones of the passenger.
That is why we call sunroofs - moonroofs, they open during the night.

Damn those relentless optimists. But there again I put the bike on the road in February and I'm off out on it soon, hardly used anything with a roof all year.
