What do you guys do/think about lights. Obviously headlights, tail and brake goes without saying.

But what about direction indicators. Isn't there a law that says that a car built after a certain date, 1980's or sometblhing like that, must have indicators that can be seen from the side. Side repeaters or whatever they're called.

I know we're not doing full type approval, what's that called, iva or something. But my Z3 had side repeaters and just because we register our cars as tribute/dna xyz doesn't mean we can get away without them? Or does it.

I see that @10stb has used z4 side indicators. But what's everyone else doing?

Thanks guys.

You need either side repeaters, or fronts that can be seen from a certain position/ angle.

If you just NEED some, rather than making a feature, then CBS (or the like) have some very small LED 'dot' indicators.

I have side repeaters and high level brake lights on both of my rebodies because the original Z3 had them.

Nice 'dots' on this classic:

I think this is where the grey area between MOT and Construction & Use comes in.

MOT says they must work.
Construction & Use says where they need to be visible from.

Police / VOSA enforce C&U. MOT examiner enforces MOT.

I would build it so that it doesn't take the p***. The last thing that you want is for the police or VOSA to get involved. It won't end well.

Ok. All you rebody folk. Post pictures of your side repeaters. Fog, reversing.

Another thing in my head is front fogs. I'm not really wanting to put front fogs on it but my z3 had them and there's a switch in the car. I do have a rear fog but the switch for rear only works when front fogs are on. So if I don't have front fogs I still have to press the front fog switch and the rear fog switch to switch on the rear fog. I suppose I could close the front fog switch and blank it off. But what did you do?

Edit.

Rear fog works only if front fogs are on OR if headlights are on. In that case I think I'll pop out the front fog switch and put a blanking plug in the hole where the switch was.

LED repeaters from Car Builder Solutions. 20mm or 30mm diameter with the chrome bezel.

Just pull Fuse 15.

It is the front fog lights. No fuse = no lights.

0:47 shows the side repeaters.
17:26 shows the rear foglight
No reversing lights fitted.

Thanks guys. I still can't make up my mind. I like the way @10stb has used the Z4 lights in the gill. Wouldn't work on my gill though but something for the future I think.

In the meantime - I just stuck little ones here for now. Probably change by the time I go to paint though. Or maybe they'll grow on me.
