Hi, I’ve just got a facelift z3 1.9i m43 and it has a powerflow rear silencer which I find too noisy for my tastes - I’m looking for a standard rear silencer or exhaust for this car or if it’s doable - a standard 6 cylinder twin exit exhaust . Thanks all

I will also have the powerflow stainless twin exit silencer available for sale/swap ifanyone is interested.

im Bedfordshire if that makes a difference

You can get these new still, how easy to fit will all depend on where they joined the powerflow system.

If it's a 1.9 it will be a 4 cylinder mate.

I don't think I've got one right now, the 1.9 facelift I have in for breaking ripped it's exhaust off in an 'off'!

thanks, I know it’s a 4 - I was hoping it may have been possible to fit the 6’s back box maybe with a reducer to join the pipes together - I assume the hangers and routing is identical - what do you think?

The route is the same, I think the diameters are different, but the hangers are certainly close if not identical

I would also do this, the twin pipe finish is a much nicer look.

Also because you have a powerflow exhaust you can go back and ask them to make it quieter, the end tips come off and they change the inserts.

I also have the 1.9 M43. IMASAF make a system for these with either the oval or twin pipe arrangement. I have the twin pipe fitted and it was a straight swap for the original, cheap as well

that sounds great- do you have a link to it as I can’t seem to find one for the z3 from them

I spoke to an installer and they have told me this is not something they can do, they would just replace it at my cost.

If you were thinking of putting a 6cyl rear box on would need to be from a pre face-lift 2.8 as the newer 6cyl models have 2 pipes going into the rear box hangers should all be in the right place.
Will still need cut and shut to fit as 2.8 a 2 piece exhaust but factory face-lift 1.9 m43 has a 1 piece full system ( not sure about pipes diameter difference) but would think the 2.8 will be a larger diameter than the 1.9.

Thanks - I think I have found a 2.8 prefacelift box - and it’s 60mmish and the original is 50mm ish - hopefully a pipe reducer will do the job

Hello again - I bought mine from Fleabay in Germany (https://www.ebay.de/itm/202194612638). The seller has still got them complete with mounting kit although the exhaust has gone up in price by 50 euro. With import duties and postage it may not be an economical idea. VEGAZ also do a twin pipe system available in the UK on sites such as REXBO and EUSPARES. Sounds as though you have a viable solution with the 2.8 though!
