12mm rear is perfect for OEM wheels.

you can go 3mm without longer bolts at the front but hardly worth it unless your OCD ;-)

Don't forget the longer bolts (you will need c38mm for 12mm spacers). Then you will need 2 extra locking nuts in 38mm but you can only get them in sets of 4 so you can put 2 existing ones on each front wheel and 2 long ones on each back wheel. Its never simple or cheap is it :coolsteer)

ps you can take comfort in the fact that 2 locking nuts per wheel are much better than one. One is pretty east to get off ;-)

Going by HT's video
The bolts are attched to the spacer
I understand the adittional nuts
Am i missing something here
is it because its only 12mm spacers?

Ray,there are two types.

Mine fit on the hub and the wheel nuts go through the spacers in to the hub. So in effect the spacer is sandwiched between the wheel and the hub - like a washer between a bolt and a nut.

The ones in HTs video first bolt to the hub, and then the wheels bolt to the spacers. Means you have two sets of bolts to do up.

I'm not sure which of the two would be considered "best" though.

Hope that makes sense :-\

I think in theory the spacer with bolts attached are when they are much wider ie 30mm+ as it gets to the point where the wheel nuts themselves would have to be tooooooooo long ;-)

Personally I would never go wider than 30mm anyway and on most cars you should not need to unless you have got the wrong spec offset in the first place.

The important thing is that they are PCD 120 (so the holes line up) and the correct number of holes (but most are generic and have more holes than you need). anything over 5mm really should be hubcentric ie have a little flange that side in the hub to help secure it in place. You don't really need this with 5mm or less.

here is decent video about them:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gU_XcLxcPw

People tend to forget to factor in the cost of longer bolts and security bolts which can add c£70 to the cost ie double it !

ps TPI are a great make. Branded quality but at a cheaper price and they look cool as well. They do kits with longer bolts included.

I got the impression fitting longer threads ie bolts would be detrimental ie stress related
there are a lot of factors to bare in mind here
when in the old day when i had my mini cooper, the spacers were just sandwiched with longer or extended bolts
i was told after fitting them, all sort of technical problems ie wheels falling off
that was al ong time ago
I suppose a lot of plonkers had rediculous length spacers fitted then [-x

Tpi 12 mm spacers are not the same as the vid.. There are just spacers with longer bolts.. Better IMO.

Perfectly save.. The wider stance on the rear gives an improved feel when driving.. Feels more planted. Also looks great
