Hi,

Does anyone know car Z3M reg M3 BHX?

It is estoril blue, 1998, 86,000 on the clock and based in Rainham.

A friend of mine in Manchester has been in contact with the owner who has been trying to sell it on ebay just recently. Apparently the owner has only had it a couple of months which seems odd... The advert says all the usual stuff that you would expect with the M and apparently comes with an MOT until May 2019 but it makes no mention of any Vanos work or Boot welds...

I have asked my friend to specifically ask the questions and there answer is always side stepped. He did upload the following photo opf the boot but didnt pull the carpet all the way back as requested. I think the diff mounts in the top left look like they've popped to me?

Any thoughts?

Looking at the MOT history its not been a well maintained car at all, its failed almost all but one MOT and wasn't done in 2012, if I was buying an M I would want a well maintained one

Does this make it clearer on the spot welds?

that looks like it will need serious welding from underneath. most of the welds have popped and its likely torn away underneath.
Yep and thats why he has only had the car a couple of months and is getting rid

Diff carrier weld have gone, thats a given. Vanos will be iffy if it hasn't been done, probably running on old suspension and bushes, all this need to be checked UNLESS its very very cheap. The cost of getting an M up together is huge.

Buy it. Get it for £9000 - £9200 as long as its not been bent and the engine runs OK and the body is in fair to good condition. The boot welds are no problem just had mine seam welded. £100
Total rebuild on suspension, including full bush replacement plus brake disc caliper, pad, drop links top mounts etc etc plus Vanos replacement circa £3k to £4k (not including labour) depending on what make of kit you buy. Do it up over a few years and its a cheap well sorted M.

I wondered why only a three day auction?

Maybe so no one has time to go and view?
That or just impatient I guess. Obviously a car to stay well clear of that's for sure unless like Niall says you have deep pockets and plenty of time on your hands.
