Hello fellow M44 fanatics.

I am new to zroadster.org and wondered if anybody had any ideas on what might cause rev limiter to kick in at 5500rpm or maybe misfire. Engine runs perfectly under 5500rpm and when cold appears to rev above 5500rpm but when heated up revs our at 5500rpm.

Have heard could be spark plugs wrongly gapped, MAF dirty, cam sensor or abs wheel sensor.

Anyway I thought I would see if there were any ideas in this group.

Thanks,
C

My first thought would rather be Crankshaft position sensor. Are there any codes stored at all?

Tony.

I did find it strange having a low rpm limiter when you took me out. Great fun though!

I had this happen on my 2.8. Thought it was engine related but actually was linked to an ABS fault.
Apparently on cars with ASC if the ABS is faulty the car can limit itself to around that RPM.
In my case it was intermittent and only in 3rd onwards I think.
It went away after a new ABS sensor was fitted and fault cleared.

Good to hear.
Day afternoon I posted that my ABS light came back on and lowered the rev limit I can confirm.
Must be contagious....

What was your issue - sensor or module?

it’s a bit more extreme..... ABs removed for racing doh! Fix with custom ECU for SCS - Delta. Or that’s one of the options. No drama and all solvable. But not a fix unless you are removing abs, which I assume isn’t recommended
