Not great month for P51s,as well as above, nick grey landed "Berlin Express" safely after canopy failure also at Duford, but fatal P51 crash at Emelia Arhart aerodrome in USA,two killed

The P51 is a Mustang isn't it? They had these on carriers didn't they? Why are these crashing above anything else? I imagine all these vintage planes are meticulously maintained. Trick flying? Or over enthusiastic piloting? I never paid that much attention to places but these vintage fighters are pretty cool... I might go and see the film Dunkirk, no cgi apparently all the spitfire scenes are genuine.

Dunno definitive answer, but age of aircraft and pilot error keep cropping up in the reports on "vintage" aircraft incident, but that's me generalising
I believe that "Berlin Express" was some sort of canopy failure of a converted type of canopy
The American one no idea cause, but pilot was seriously experienced and had the incidents airport manager in back seat
