Hi
I've owned my 2000 2.0 L Mora Red individual Z3 for just over a year now. It is a fantastic colour and we always get comment whenever we are out. It was originally a UK car and imported into New Zealand in 2005 by a previous owner.
Have often wounded how many of this model were made and have found other Mora Red owners who have the same question. The answer is 80 cars.
BMW did not keep records of specific Individual models. They only listed information on the VIN record. The information that you get will depend on the VIN decode tool you use. Usually you get the following, which is the same for all individual models regardless of colour.
Colour: SONDERLACKIERUNG (490)
Upholstery: SONDERPOLSTERUNG (Z1XX)
S938 Individual series
S940 Special equipment BMW Individual (only on some cars)
The VIn decode tool https://www.mdecoder.com/ Provide full disclosure of the Individual model details. For the Mora cars it included the following
- Individual series Z3 for Zg 4x80 KA67.
- Variant 4
This means that there were 4 variants of individual cars produced for the UK at the same time. Each variant having 80 cars. They are:
Variant 1- Agean Blue
Variant 2- Velvert Blue
Variant 3- Cosmos Black VIN range of LG73260 to LG73360
Variant 4- Mora Red VIN range LG73370 to LG73455
The two photos attached are:
- A Mora Red Z3 so you know what colour we're on about.
- An individual model plate. 359/4 = 359 is the Mora Metallic colour code and 4 is the variant code (4, KA67) for ECRU (cream colour) inserts etc.
Full analysis of the BMW VIN registry via VIN decode tools has shown that there were 80 Mora Red Z3's delivered to UK and Ireland and have production dates from 17 to 28 April 2000. The Mora Red VIN range is LG73370 to LG73455. There are 6 VIN's in that sequence that are not individual model cars. All of the Mora Red Z3's went through the plant at the same time. The Mora Red VIN range being boarded by the Cosmosschwarz Individual Z3 (earlier VIN numbers) and a run of Velvert Blue Individual models (later VIN numbers). There may have been other Mora Red runs or individual cars manufactured as one off's. Adding confirmed Mora Red Z3's to the registry will help identify if this is the case.
Below is the Mora Red Registry. All the following cars are 2000 2.0 L Mora Red Individual right hand drive Z3's that originated in the UK and are still in the UK unless noted otherwise.
