Took my z4 in for its normal mot , expecting it to fly through , as only done just over 1000 miles since last one ( I know I got to try and get out more but with work and other odds and ends ) .
Bottom front ball joints failed also advisory on rear brakes lines
I had the front all changed yesterday with complete new arms fitted ( tracked ) , new rear brake lines to be fitted today and having brake fuild flush at same time .
With the roof motor and new hydraulic lines £1000
Respray front end ££££
And new key Ect
I think I am spend nearly 4 pound per mile just on running cost
I know I want to keep the car but it expensive hobby , also want new wheels and tyres and a little paint on the rear ( will have too wait )
For the love of a z4 , I am feeling the pain

Easy answer on the cost per mile... drive more miles. It's actually worse for a car to sit idle than if it was in use. Rust starts as no air flow to dry panels, rubber goes hard and fuel goes stale.

But to be honest, does it bring a smile to your face when you drive her ? If so it's worth every penny.

Agree, most cars with low mileage that lay up for a while degrade quicker. Well done for running it through the winter.

Don't let a failed MOT discourage you. Fix the failed issues and you should have trouble free motoring given the expenditure to this point.

It won't stop me loving the zed , it's just that I wanted new alloys and every time I save up I have to spend my budget on something else

Well, just paid hefty garage bill, 12 hundreds quid, purchased suspension kit, another 7 hundred quid, due to fit it. Need front bumper respray, and few small oddities. I'm truing not to count costs on this car. Way too frustrating ;)

But i do drive her daily and missed her very much while she sat in garage. Never had such a relationship with a car before!

Now as the owner you will know the cars history. When I take my car out it gives me that thrilling feeling :rally:

I take mine to the same tester every year and every year he says the same thing. Use the car more!
