It really is a great resource, I've been using it since 2006 when it was introduced, saved me from many mistakes. Its such a great resource when buying a new car.
i love being able to see when a car fails an MOT, and then the next year it fails on the advisories from the previous year, meaning that the owner has been skimping on maintenance!
Yes that's my thoughts also.I wonder how long this will last, as i doubt not many people have given the DVLA permission to share information about their cars, I can see that V5 number coming back in soon...
Depends on who owns the information collected during an mot.I wonder how long this will last, as i doubt not many people have given the DVLA permission to share information about their cars, I can see that V5 number coming back in soon...
What's next your financial records, your phone records, your internet history, it all makes it transparent as you say...as soon as you give an inch they will take a mile, some things are best left private, or we may as well be Russian...as far as I am concerned my information is my information and I should decide who has access to it...Depends on who owns the information collected during an mot.
I'm all up for it, makes everything transparent
That's ok mate, this is quite an emotive subject, who should have free access to personal information and what constitutes personal information, it's quite subjective...I'm talking about the DVSA system Rich, sorry for the assumption that you would realise what I'm on about. I can't print details which are freely available to "Joe Public" is what I meant.
Tony.
Some thing are best left private, I think mot results for a car is 100% fine. What's next your financial records, your phone records, your internet history, it all makes it transparent as you say...as soon as you give an inch they will take a mile, some things are best left private, or we may as well be Russian...as far as I am concerned my information is my information and I should decide who has access to it...
I want to see them because I'm out buying cars every week, but now anyone can do the check without permission of the owner, my agree is that I think they may revert back to the old system where you need the doc ref number from the V5, simply because of the massive increase of traffic on the website. So, by that, you wouldn't want to see the previous M.O.T. mileages on a test certificate of a car that you may want to buy, as it helps verify the accuracy of the mileage history? I guess you can only please some of the people some of the time.
