So having bought the E89 last week I've been pouring over all the associated forum information to familiarise myself with that model having not owned one before.
First job on the list is the battery - the car hadn't been used much before I bought it and although it had a BMW battery dated 2017 despite me recharging it overnight it seems to struggle holding the charge.
Anyway having read all the info it sounded like there was no point risking it so I ordered a like for like replacement that is due to arrive today from Tayna.
From what I understand In view of the above it won't need coding but will need registering - if I don't have the necessary software to do that is it just a case of taking it to BMW or will they refuse if they haven't supplied the battery?

Correct it needs registering to ensure its not over / under charged by the car. I understand it bloody expensive at BMW, I have seen posts that say up to £200 but not sure about that. If you know anyone local with Carly or similar it can been done using these types of software.

I'm based in Sheffield if anyone can help that has the necessary software - just let me know you're preferred tipple

Also can I fit the battery and then get it registered or does it need to happen at the same time?

Where I used to work in Lincoln would do it all included in the cost. I would have thought you could find someone local to code it to the car.
Have you got a quote from local BMW dealer?

Tony.
