Hello gang,help/advice please.
Just fitted drilled and grooved discs all round with matching black diamond predator pads.
Been out for a test drive and basically it's like having no brakes :(.
I know you have to bed new brakes in but they still stop you, these don't.

Thanks for advice peeps :).
Done around 40 miles on them now,the first time i stopped to check things over there was smoke coming from all four brakes :nailbiting: but that was just the black paint being worn away where the pads contact the discs.
There is a slight improvement at low speed but if I had to stop sharpish,no chance.
I really hope they bed in ok and work ok,I read on @Dino D link that it can take up to a thousand miles, but as @GazHyde a few hundred miles sounds about reasonable. So if you see an Atlanta blue zed behind you don't brake too hard =))

Bit odd they feel that bad? I realise that they need bedding in but is this right? Tony and Brian fitted me some euro carparts cheap ones the other month and I didn't have any bother.

I know what you mean Dave, this is the first time I've ever bought"performance" brakes never had anything like this problem with others I've fitted.
I will probably have the wheels off again to check everything out if it ever stops raining but can't think what I may have done wrong.
@Lee has the same brakes I think, hopefully he might offer some feedback.

Forgive me for asking but, did you clean them thoroughly before you installed them?

If they needed any special preparation it would have told you on the packaging I would have thought Steve, my guess is you have to be fairly brutal with them to get them to "bite" for a start. Roy said his need some warm up every time he uses his car too. It's very unlikely that you will have fitted them incorrectly mate. Have you looked on their website for "bed in " info?

Tony.

Hi Mike,I gave the discs a wipe over using brake cleaner but they are completely painted black and the pads scrub it off on the contact area.

There was no info at all with them Tony, I expected them to be soft till the paint was skimmed off but it makes no difference how much you press on the brake pedal. The engine braking is better than the brakes at the mo.

@t-tony just checked on there website it says to use the brakes normally/lightly for the first 250 miles, that seems a long time to drive with brakes so ineffective :wideyed:.

Tony.

ps. But, just remember when he gets those bad boys working right he'll be able to "brake test" us boys. As the F1 one drivers sometimes say.:ymdevil:
