New brake discs on the Z3 looks a bit odd but its just rubbing off the black coating that stops them rusting... hate seeing rusty brakes through nice wheels (also drilled and grooved), the old brakes were so bad I had to use a lump hammer to get the old pads out then used a wire wheel on a drill to remove rust from the calliper and the backing dust plate thingy :p, then use some silver spray hammerite like stuff and coated the callipers in a heat resistant paint but damn you should have seen the pile of rust left over when I was all done!

They are Mtec disks and mintex pads the same as my Alfa and after 30k they are still like new ;)

Same when I did my rear discs, so much rust. Feels like the cars quicker now without the weight of the rust=))

Really, 30K, I must take my foot off that middle pedal ;)

I want to do the same, only with calipers from 330i - they accept larger 325x25mm discs.
Be careful as the piston size is different to the standard caliper, this will cause a brake imbalance.

I don't think there will be a lot of imbalance as this mod was made on many z3 before me...

I know that in stock brakes are balanced very safe for unexperienced drivers, so that front brakes are braking first. Probably this could balance that stock "imbalance" :)

I tried this, you get very long brake pedal, to achieve a normal brake pedal you need to pump the pedal twice.

Sorry for going off topic @Dickymint I wont do it anymore :)

Pumping pedal twice sounds very bad... I will need to investigate this further... Do you have braided brake hoses or OEM? Also I can try some bias correction thing, some brake manufacturers are selling...

Hey don't worry about me Brian :), and I will say that I used to have new disks every year or so because I am very heavy on my brakes but I learned the difference between a normal price disk and something like the Mtec is worlds apart it must be something different in the casting or maybe what they do after :)

Where I work we had our own spares dept. 13 years ago. We sold Brembo discs, however after the parts section was sold off our suppliers offered cheaper, more profit, brands. The difference between Brembo and the other stuff was huge. But not profitable !!
