Hi all just bought my 16 year old Z3 on Monday i think i got a good one, no rust 95,000 miles 1.9 only problem driving home to Norfolk yesterday was a noise coming from the rear end that sounds a load of metal balls rolling around in the boot i'll investigate today. I am 59 years old and this is my first roadster since selling my 1965 Sunbeam Alpine in 1986. These type of cars have come a long way since those days.

Wonder if the wheel bearings need to be replaced? Keep us posted! :)

Hope you sort the noise quickly - had a simlar noise this summer.Mine was the hand brake shoe flopping about due to corroded retaining pin but there are a few possibilities on the list.

I found out what the noise that sounds like ball bearings rolling around is, when the roof is up
you can hear the noise but with the roof down there's no noise although i don't no what the cause is.
