The day has (almost) finally come! A man is coming tommorrow to fit my new roof.

I bought the roof off ebay for a bargain price quite a few months ago, it cost less than most people pay for a new window! I had always intended fitting it myself although all of the write ups I could find all desribe it as difficult and taking a long time. Most go as far as to say don't do it, pay someone it is worth it! Even my wife thought I should pay someone to do it!

Offyourmarks on .net had his roof replaced recently and highly reccomended his fitter so I gave him a call and he is available before Silverstone!! Result :D

So the roof is drying in the garage, I have given it a coat of Autoglym roof waterproofing spray to try and help keep it clean for at least 8 days!! Why?????

Get ready Snoops to hold your head head in your hands and cry Noooooooooo!!!

The roof is beige x_x

It may not be everyone's taste but I like it! :D

It is quite bright at the minute but I know that won't last long!!!!

Just one picture for now, I'll try and put a few more on tommorrow.

Wildeboy - do you have a tonneau cover??

If you haven't, it might be worth investing in one. What I found when closing the roof was an obvious deposit of dust/muck on the hood - we all will be experiencing this but I think it was more apparent because it showed up on the light coloured roof and will certainly be one of the causes of the "grimy look".

The tonneau will go some way to helping stop the ingress of muck in the 1st place so it's worth a thought.

Yes I have got a tonneau cover but rarely use it, I will have to make a point of using it more with the tan roof though, thanks for the tip. And yes the cover is tan, I do like the coordinated look!

The roof was fitted by Joe Galione who fitted Offyourmarks roof on .net. He has been fitting soft tops for 40 years so I think he has got the hang of it now!

The roof I bought off ebay for £100! Joe does a lot of work for BAS International and is fairly sure it is one of theirs, he reckoned it would have been a special order and would cost between £600 and £800!

Having said that, the roof isn't a perfect fit! it is slightly too big on the drivers side so isn't tight behind the drivers window. The rear window also isn't as tight as the original., but the whole thing might shrink and tighten up with time and the good old British weather! :rain(

I can't quite work out if thats the roll hoops touching the roof? :-?

I'm unsure if its the colour or that black hides the buldges etc but it doesn't look to be fitting correctly :|

Tim.
