Thanks for the welcome
Live in Cardiff, go past Stafford regularly as daughter is in keele uni
Z3 is mine if I pay what they want, it’s in good condition apart from no mot mainly emissions and leaking roof so water in boot. This is recent as lack of staining of carpet so far but will get worse. Looks like bottom corner of window is not sealed. They change position of car on drive which meant all water ran to affected corner. It’s been put back but water is still inside car.
Cheers

Not likely to be leaking from window. “A” pillar seal and door trim seals more likely.

...so water in boot...
The usual suspects for water in the boot are aerial grommet and/or the 3rd brake light seal in the boot lid.

Also, if there is water in the cockpit you will find the carpets and sound deadening material underneath will hold lots and lots of water, usually requiring a complete interior removal to dry them out. That's once you've found where the water is getting in. As Tony says 'A' pillar and door seals would be the first place to check.

Hi and welcome.
Check the aerial sealing rubber aswell, these easily perish and split. Ask me how I know!
Check carpets too; if it's leaking at the back it's also probably leaking at the front somewhere aswell.
The foam under the carpets can soak up a LOT of water without it being noticeable. Again, ask me how I know!

edit: reply above was posted as I was typing! :)

I assumed you meant the front windscreen Ron. My bad, but if the rear window is that bad check the side wells in the boot as they fill up and drown electronics housed in them.

Tony.

If the car is a M44, sorting the emissions, if a cat issue, could be costly, £1 to £1.5K for an OEM one. Suggest factor this in to the purchase price.

It is M44 I have read about cats and issues, seller doesn’t want to drop to where I am currently prepared to pay. Not a million miles away but I’m informed them that it could be expensive with no guarantee of mot at the end, but I understand it is low price for them to accept, but it will only get worse as they have a cover but didn’t use it 🤦🏻‍♂️

You can pick up a M44 with MoT for £2/3K, very best may approach £5K. Without a MoT a grand at most, assuming goodish in all other respects. Hope this helps.
