New to the forum 1.9 Z3 with common issues

Hi,

I'm new to the forum, just bought a 1.9 as a bit of a fixer'upper (Frozen Reference i'm sure you parents out there know which song i'm talking about)


She has the usual common problems including:

- Sliding/rocking seats
- Seat belt guides
- Rear screen has split slightly
- Addictive to drive..

Got it on the 22nd of December and was parked up til Boxing day, then I got to experience RWD in the snow as can be seen in the bottom 2 pictures. The top one being when I got it home.

Just wondering if anyone has any info on how to fix any of the issues.

Hi and welcome from Canada! @Aceman can set you up with seat bushes, if your rear window is a zip in replacements are available on eBay. I researched them all and liked the German made one which uses double sided tape as opposed to contact cement which can get over everything somehow. About £80 if I remember. @Southernboy can fix you up with some real nice pieces to fix your guides. There are also a lot of how to's so take a bit of time and roam through the forum sections and bring back any questions you have. HTH JIM

Southern boy for the seat belt guide fix......look good to...it's the little Z on my photos

Addictive to drive.....sadly no cure known to man :coolsteer)

Rear screen.....only drive with the top down as nature intended:rally:

Rocking seats can be fun.....but not when ya driving :bashhead::gisakiss:

The only bad thing about owning a zed is bedtime.......boing....time for bed said zebedee :drinks:

I'm sure someone will be along soon with other options for your issues.....they are all minor

Hi Connor and welcome to the forum from the other side of the pond. Nice car. Not too long ago I was going to replace the rear screen. I ordered a new one and started to take out the old one. At that time, I noticed the stitching coming loose around the zipper that was attached to the car and also at other places on the soft top. It soon became apparent that I needed a new top. I never used the new rear screen and still have it in the box. My car is a '96 1.9l. Its still in the box. Perhaps if you feel you need to replace yours, I can give you a good dear on mine. Hi Connor, all these are common issues and relatively easy and not too expensive too fix, barring the rear window maybe. It snowed here near Lincoln on Boxing night too. Where abouts are you, if not too far I might be able to offer some help if you need/want any. I have a very cost effective repair for seatbelt guides. :)

ps. Mine consists of two shorts pieces of brake pipe and two self tapping screws.

Woahhh lots of replies this morning!

All of those guides look helpful! I'm going to order some of those bushes and get that sorted first!

Frankie, that may not be a bad idea.. How much were you thinking and how much would the postage be to UK?

Hello from me.
I have the seat belt problem just put a bit of black heat shrink tube on it till I get around to de-gloving the seat, got to work out how the electrical plug disconnects first, as its not just a pull off, as I found from fixing a jammed up seat.

That's a great idea! I just want these things temporary sorted whilst the weather is terrible. I want everything sorted for summer for top down cruising!
