Hi guys,

Im a e46 owner but just bought a 1.9z 1997 z3. 179k miles 5speed manual for only $2000. car is in pretty good shape. the top is perfect. straight piped which is too loud for my taste and lowered with some ugly wheels. I plan on getting my oem 325i muffler welded on and switching to 15in style 32 wheels because i found them for $40. the interior isnt too bad. The car is matte black, but i plan on plastidipping the whole car blaze blue. what are your thoughts?
other things that need work is the driver side exterior handle, seat bushings, and rear plastic window screen is hazed up. also the throttle cable broke but one of the other throttle still works so car still runs great. easy fix though.

Welcome Tony :)

I've seen the post in the tech section, which I'm sure someone will help to resolve for you asap. In the mean time I shall do what I can in welcoming you to the forum!

Cheers, Gary

Welcome to the forum.

I think dipping the car will be the right move. Check out lots of pictures and get the right shade of blue. I agree that the wheels can be replaced and it might be nice to dye the interior all black [that's my preference only]. You got the car at a good price and looks like she will be keeping you busy for a while. Enjoy!

:welcome: from me too. You can't go wrong with blue;), but then I may be biased, it'll look great.

Hi Tony and welcome from Lincoln UK. Agree on the wheels, too fussy for my taste and must be a right bi*** to clean too. Matt black doesn't do anything for me either but you have a good "canvas" to start with. Good luck and keep us posted please. Where are you located by the way?

Tony.

Hello from Cornwall. I think your wheels are ok, but I bet they take a bit of time and effort to keep clean. I've never seen that wheel design before and there's nothing wrong with being individual.

welcome to the forum man, I like the plans, they sound solid, be interesting to see how you get on with the plasti dip, will you be going with glossifier to finish? some nice pearl colours out there also might be worth a look at ;-)
What is this plasti dip? I've not heard of it being used here except on tools! JIM

yea ill be going with the plastidip gloss finish if it looks ugly with just the dip. im from the US in san francisco. i just picked up the 15in style 32 wheels today for $40 but have to swap the tires around since theres some camber wear. for $40 i cant complain though.

@tonysofresh613 can you please fill me in on the process of plasti dipping? I've never heard of it's use in Canada! What is the advantages and cost comparison. Wish I could find deals like that on wheels! JIM

plastidipping is just a rubber coating of paint over your original paint. can be peeled off anytime after it is dried and does not damage the paint. you just have to clean your surface well and then spray from either rattle can, or spray gun.
