2002 Z3, 3.0 White roadster, 61,000 miles. I had a 1998 M Roadster some years ago with 135,000 miles. This one is a very nice car and a lot of fun to drive. Are there any known problems I should be on the lookout for? I saw some discussion about fan replacement and was wondering if this is a common problem.

There's no real weak spots for these cars of any significance though like any car things age with time and these cars are all well over 20 years of age. The cooling fan can let go unannounced if routine checks aren't made, if the fan has any lateral movement it's time to change it as they should be rock solid. If that's the case, whilst you're in there you may as well changed the water pump, thermostat, serpentine belt, pulleys and tensioner if no history. The seat bushes ware with age, this can lead to movement of the seats under braking and acceleration, easy fix and guide on here. The spot welds in the boot (trunk) have been known to fail on the bigger engined Zeds of which yours is one. Randy Forbes Stateside does a fix. The rear beam bushes should sit proud of the plates by about a centimetre, if they're flush they're goosed and will impact the ride.

Thanks for the reply. The seat bushings have been addressed and the spot welds are solid. I don't think this one has ever been driven hard. The gentleman I bought it from is 80 and he owned it for 7 years. I'm 77 and won't drive it hard either! Mine has a metal surround on the center console. I've never seen one like it and I'm told that was a 2002 only option?

I have seen silver consoles before but not sure about the option possibility.

Welcome to the forum Bill. Your car's certainly a looker! I hope you enjoy it! That 3.0 badge on the trunk lid always makes me smile!

Thanks, I was never a "white car" guy but with the powder-coated black wheels, it has become one of my favorites!
There's not a lot of cars can take pure white successfully, but the Z3 and the E89 Z4 do it very well. (As does the Mk 3 Capri! one of my favourites.)
