Hi Liam & Welcome :)

I've created you a thread with your post in, so that people can respond directly. It would be helpful to assess the car better if you can supply more information such as...
  • Model Year
  • Engine Size
  • Interior colour (leather/cloth), heated seats, air con?
  • General condition of the car
  • Service history (whatever you have)
  • MOT expiry (if it has a current one)
Cheers, Gary

After viewing ebayUK everyday for over a year now I've seen some excellent cars go for under a thousand and some I thought should have been broken sell for over two thousand. Supply and demand in the UK doesn't seen to play into the equation for some reason but rather location does. The cleaner and better the car presents in person the better chance you have of getting the best bang and pounds. Please also remember that I offer this from about 6000 miles away and with an eye toward importing Z3's to Canada. So good luck with the sale and as Gaz has noted, get the details gathered and presented with lots of pics. HTH JIM

Power wash the wheels- even it takes some paint off. If the wheels look crap the whole car does. See my post on Friday, car in at work for sale at £1600 if the owner spent a day properly cleaning it the value would rise a lot. It only takes some sweat and polish.

Want some comparable pricing just hit ebayUK and see what other cars are listed for and watch a half dozen or so through the auctions and you'll see the final selling prices and just how varied they are. I can show you at least a dozen examples that should have brought a fair price that ended without a single bid. Spend the time and if you can't hire a good valet service to prep the car for you. Ask Chris at Summit, a member and sponsor to recommend someone in your area. I can tell you from personal experience that Sean at F 5 detailing is fantastic. PM me for his email or I'll edit this post. JIM

In all honesty Liam, fix the faults, you can command a higher price, when there is nothing to haggle on.

P.S. add a few hundred as it is a 2.8

hey Liam,

welcome!

we are an unusually nice bunch on here and any banter is always in good spirit,so don't take it personally fella..

now to the car..its a 2.8 so add 25%..its red so lose 15%..(sorry you red z owners but its not everyones cuppa) the most popular colours are silver, estoril blue, atlanta blue and black..that said they are all nice..I would rather have a red one than not own one at all.

sort the niggles out before you sell as they are very minor and easily sorted, if we can give you any advice on that re sourcing parts or how to's just ask ,there will generally be someone along who knows the answer to your question..

what do I think money wise? well I would put it on at £2250 and expect to get around £1900-2k depending on the weather and the location, it would command more but the miles at 160k are on the high side, that said these cars have 400k in them if well looked after before a new engine or rebuild is required..if new tyres are needed you might want to look for a set of wheels with decent tyres on them..could kill two birds with one stone there..ebay and gumtree a good place to look and style 18 and 35 are popular with z owners...don't go over 17'' on the rim it does nothing for the ride at all!

hope this helps and good luck with the sale.

Hi Liam, remember you're here for advise on selling your car so concentrate on and take in what's being told to you from those that know these cars. If you do this you will likely increase your chances of getting the best value from the car. It only takes one person to fall in love with it but expect a few tire kickers trying to lowball you. You ultimetly need to decide if the offers meets your needs. Good luck and as Joey says, let us know if you need any info. JIM.

Bit confused with the trade plates in the window...if you bought from a dealer you know the price. If you are a dealer don't you guys have price guides etc ? Personally I feel it would be great if we had a member from the trade involved in the forum....
