I wouldn't 'bid' on anything I hadn't been to see and ebay prohibit that. I would always do a classified ad if selling on ebay, but they charge a lot so I don't use ebay.

EBay don’t prohibit you going to view an item.. they can and will block the exchange of personal email or phone numbers via messages and they also get shirty about sales of advertised items outside of their platform.

There are ways of fooling their snooping system if you want to send a phone number, personally I wouldn’t.

On auctions they 'prohibit' viewing by blocking personal contact information and issuing threats of charges etc. So if selling a car for example, it's best to do a classified ad then people can arrange to view. Wouldn't bother, I've sold several cars on fbook, no problem.

That’s not true.. I went to view a z3 roof last week as I wanted to make sure it was sound, not bent etc.. all arranged through eBay messages. Whilst I was there I decided to buy it , again all done through eBay. I agree the best way to sell a car is via a classified though.

? For example, I recently advertised a bike on ebay. A chap messaged to say he would like to come to have a look.When I messaged back to give phone number or address.ebay threatened to charge 12.8% of the asking price whether or not I sold it.
