Had a relatively cheap 110bar Karcher for some years until it gave up on me last Autumn. Powerful enough and done the job on patios, drives etc., Only ever used it on wheels or a distant spray on the car or van.

Just replaced with a Nilfisk C125, 125bar and have to say it's a superb bit of kit.

Overall it seems to be much better made, the lance haveing a smoother trigger action and the fittings clicking nicely together.

Mine came with a patio cleaner, detergent dispenser, a drain cleaning hose and 2 nozzles, one with variable spray, the other with a jet that is cleaning stuff from an old quarry tiled area that the old Karcher wouldn't touch.

Obviously comparing new with old isn't 100% fair but the Nilfisk gets good reviews on the detailing forums.

i bought a new karcher last year all singing and dancing one
I was not impressed the first time i used it, I tried to use the old attachments from my old worn out dead machine, the attachments had a slighly different fitting, clever Karcher, as these attachment were over £150, i suppose thats how they market things these day, so you have to buy new ones.
I always thought karcher were the best, the one professionals use
They also make power washers for DIY stores, for the consumer to keep the cost down, none of these accesories are interchangeable.
Lesson learnt,
A well known reputable brand at a high price is not always the best buy 8-|

Just been using my nilfisk washer I bought a few years back from makro. Better than my fathers karcher but his is a good few years older than mine. I bought the nilfisk as it was really cheap at the time and can give it a big thumbs up. It even would suck water out of the lake by dropping a short hose in but the karcher wouldn't even look at doing that, needs pressure from the mains.

I have a bit of an inside view on the pressure washing industry as a good mate of mine was a sales manager for Karcher and is now working for Nilfisk in a similar capacity.

Karcher' like a number of leading brand operators chose the lower end of the market to build the brand. No shame in that but you can only sell cheap by making cheap. Top end Karcher as good as any but a real case of getting what you pay for.

Nilfisk have a very good reputation for higher end cleaning machinery. Ride on mops, sweepers etc., and their offer was always a 'bit above', Bosch to Black and Decker, VW to Ford and the like.... Not the cheapest but good dependable value.

In recent years they seem to be competing on price and the latest raft of offers are probably a reaction to pending hosepipe bans which will see sales struggle. That's my view, not my mates.

Proof in the pudding for me will be how long the Nilfisk lasts. The Karcher must have been nearly 10 years old.... :ympeace:

Doh.... :^o

Learnt earlier today that we don't have a hosepipe ban in Chelmsford either! :ymblushing:

A bit misleading really as Anglia TV have reported the ban and said that it affects all of the Anglian Water region.

Not so. On their website you can check by postcode and we are clear with no intention of introducing a ban anytime soon.
