No central locking

Hi all,

I have a friend with a z3 2000 1.9. Just tried to start it but the battery was dead, after recharging the battery the central locking will not work and the windows will not go down. I can get the driver side open on the key but cannot seem to solve the other issues.

does anyone have any ideas?

There is a small loom of cables that connect the boot lid to the car, the cables in the loom (aka the loom of doom) are known to break and cause all sorts of niggles like this, I would start at this point.
You will probably need to peel back the outer sheath to check.

The central locking and windows are controlled by the General Module 4 (ZKE4) unit. I would look for trouble codes in that module to see if there are any clues. Also check the fuses for the services that are not working.
