For the first time for many years, I will not be the awkward .......what do I get him.... Xmas dad.

So.....for this Winter I am planning to replace the front suspension and would appreciate some advice, although I know this has been covered in other threads in many guises.

Shocks ..... Sachs or bilstein 4? Both around £250. Want to keep original as possible and new springs (standard) fitted last year. eurocarparts have Sachs and I will also replace top mounts.

Meyle control arms, tie rods and drop links.

Don't think I'll go for the updated power flex rubbers...I don't drive quickly unless I'm behind Brian H! Or are these really worth it?

Anything else I should consider ..... 2.8 pre facelift.

I believe the rear drops are quite difficult, but what about front arb rubbers?

Shocks - not really going to be much between Sachs and Bilstein B4 that you would notice.

Meyle are as good a brand as any for the rubber components. Agree on the Powerflex, not needed for much other than track use. Fresh new OE quality rubber will completely transform your ride!

I'd look at the front lollipops (rear wishbone bushes), and rear differential bush.

Demon Tweeks have currently got large discounts on shocks.
I would change the lollipop bushes for solid M bushes or Powerflex as these reduce tramlining.

Sachs shocks if you want to stay as OEM as you can, new standard rubbers will make a difference as your existing ones have a good few years on them now and will be past their best. The only down side to standard style bushes is that they can be a little more difficult to fit than powerflex.

As many have said bilstein or sachs, not much in it

Meyle HD are well worth it for bushes

If you are into comfort but want to upgrade the car a little, go for solid rubber front lollipops

Rear arb links are a pain in the arse to fit and need a vice etc

Grumps

Eurocar parts have 50% off this weekend if you haven't bought the shocks yet.
