Hi Gary - it's made from aluminium and it requires 6 x 2.5mm holes to be drilled in the flange at the bottom of the gearshift hole in the facia. So, no "surface" damage to the facia..
I can supply them for £45 incl postage to UK and Europe...
Cheers
Barry

Looks like the one supplied by bmtown.com . I'm going to try and source one in the U.S. when we go over. £55 or there abouts is a lot of money for a "trinket"

Tony, please don't compare my offering to bmtown's item !! that is one seriously ugly square slab !! I will be happy to supply that for £30 incl postage. It has 4 screws which seem they are destined to fit into the top face of the console facia,... My item has all 10 screws as per the M version surround, it has a radius across the top, and doesn't screw into the top face of the console... And it's cheaper...;)

Have you looked at the picture on bmtowns website Barry. It doesn't look like a square sided slab to me. Not knocking your item at all either mate, just saying it's an expensive trinket which ever.

Tony.

Well @t-tony you can't beat Barry's offer to provide you with one for £30 if you are convinced it's what you really need and want! I think more attachment places that don't show would be more attractive than 4 screws through the face. JMHO. JIM

PS any chance of pics of the two together @Southernboy? I think this addition is to your line of products looks amazing although I haven't yet seen the competition's offering.! JIM

Here you go..... £55 for bmtown's version...... apology 5 screws - and a flat top with flat sides = square... nothing like the OEM Z3 version as usedon the M cars...

Agreed Barry, but it doesn't need to be the same as OEM unless you want to make out its something it's not. The bmtowns one doesn't just sit on top of the console either it sandwiches the console facia as does your one. A slightly different profile with one less screw. Slightly more expensive. I'll see what's available stateside.

Tony.

ps. I might not be able to source one over there, then I have a choice to make.:)

Don't be so serious Tony.... My comment about it being an ugly slab, was a quote from some other Z3 owners on the options available for this trim. There used to be an Italian outlet for them which also was "flat" topped, but is no longer in production.
My point in making mine more like the M version is simply to have the two finishes complimentary, not an attempt to present it as a "wannabe" item. The M version is neat and it's what was produced for the Z3, so if you want a Z3 style finish, it seems quite straightforward to have an item "in tune" with the original design......Oh, and there are 5 less screws on the top of the bmtown item.... ie. the M version has 10 screws showing on top in the same configuration as my version. I consider my item at £45 incl postage to be more than I originally envisaged 7 months ago. After several attempts using plastics the quality vs lower cost just didn't work for me. Ultimately it came back to where I was late last year - aluminium. At £55 excl postage the bmtown option is an expensive "trinket".
