Decided that the big diesel needed some tlc so have been getting the tar spots off and so on, also decided the engine needed some work as well, I think it has come up pretty well.

It does stay pretty clean anyway as there are rubber seals all round the engine bay and there is a full undertray front to rear. Not sure how the airflow into the radiator gets out but it must do!

I thought Gaz had found Rocket Ron's ashtray? He could always dip the corner of a cloth in that......

Brian, I keep looking at my Touareg thinking it's almost bath time (only used it once since we came back from Florida) but it looks so comfy at the side of the garage and the Z looks like more fun cos it's summer that I will keep studying your photo to remind me how clean it will be when I get around to it. TBH it's that hot in there I could grow some tomatoes in the back before I need it again.=))

The engine pic is from a Titan silver E61 and great the advantage is I'm never sure how dirty it is. Must admit BMW do a good job when they wash them as ours has just come back from service.

Here's for a good weekend.

Hi Liam

It's a 3.0 diesel (M57) 232 hp according to the book but 500nm so think it is quicker than the zed but doesn't sound anywhere as good. The M54 just getting on song at 4000 rpm and the diesel changes gear then.

As to remapping plenty enough power now but fuel economy can be improved. First I've got to change the thermostats on this as It is running a bit cool. One of the pleasures of modern cars no temp gauge and you have to go into the obc menu to find the actual temp.
