Well, after months of contemplation, I have taken the plunge.

IMG_0727 copy.jpg

I just agreed to buy my own Z4. A 57 reg 3.0L si Auto with flappy paddles in Montego Blue with cream leather - which is one of the perfect colour combinations.

OK - Its missing a few nice to haves like SatNav, blue tooth and heated seats, but, its the closest I'm going to get to a top car in the price bracket I think I'm going to get. This biggest shortfall is probably Zenons - something I hope is easily (if not cheaply) rectified. It might be super bright Halogens for a while though until that sorted.

They guy selling it has only had it for a few months and moving on only because he wants an "M". He's owned several convertibles over the years but has taken to Zeds in a big way. Anyone want to sell an "M"?

Before I show the his and hers view, it does have one issue that I know lots of you will get upset with and its something I will sort. The original owner stuck an "M" badge on the back of this one. I will change it asap! Please don't berate me for this tiny transgression.
I'll be taking possession on Thursday as long as no problems arise.

So - here is the His and Hers!

Advise being very carefull with aftermarket hid,s. As far as I know the latest MoT requires that they can only be fitted in lenses that are e marked for them, not just halogen. If you source complete zenons lights ,easy from a Quarry motors or eBay you still have the matter of self levelling and washers to consider . Can be done ( I did it on an e61 ) ,pity BMW have not fitted good headlights as standard( it was extra for zenons on my X1) I am at present looking at updating the lights on the Z3.

Nice looker, great colour:thumbsup:
It was the colour that stole it. Have seen other arguably better black and red leather, but this just looks so

Thank you - I just couldn't be silver or black. Just the headlights is something I want to change - easier said than done. That and a good radio with DAB and bluetooth phone prep and I'll be a very happy bunny.

Thanks - aware of the complexity behind upgrading to HIDs. Already has headlamp washers. Does the levelling come as a separate unit.
If I sourced full units from a breakers (not ideal I know) would that be just programming needed after swapping them out? Am sure some would be available, but, advisable?

Its probably worth the pain. Am assuming the Halogens are pretty poor by comparison. I may just go High Intensity bulbs for the short term while sorting a proper swap.

Lovely car Ian. My Zed had a spurious M badge on the boot which was removed after a few seconds attention with a heat gun. I still have M style gills on the front wings. I like the gills but the M badges will have to go before I am banished from the site!

Cheers,

Jonno

I think I can just about forgive the previous owner as he was obviously aspiring for an M but as he is going in that direction good on him.

Lovely colour combo and worth sacrificing the few options for the looks.
